Tyrell Morris Responds to Exclusion from “New Orleans Mayor Town Hall”

(New Orleans, LA) — Mayoral candidate Tyrell Morris has issued the following statement in response to being excluded from the “New Orleans Mayor Town Hall” hosted by Voters Organized, a 504(c)(4) organization, on June 26:

“Our campaign was made aware of the town hall and immediately contacted Executive Director Norris Henderson to ask why all publicly declared candidates were not invited. We have yet to receive a response.

Voters Organized claims to promote civic engagement and voter education, yet they’ve excluded 50% of the declared candidates for Mayor of New Orleans. This is election interference, plain and simple.

Equally concerning is the silence of the candidates who were included. No one demanded fairness or inclusion. Democracy requires more than participation—it requires principle.

I commend the organizations that have welcomed all candidates to share their vision with voters. Your commitment to transparency and fairness is what New Orleans needs right now.

The people of this city—not political gatekeepers—will decide who leads us into the future.”

Morris, a longtime public servant and community advocate, remains committed to a campaign rooted in equity, transparency, and bold leadership for all New Orleanians.
